will u be publishing the markdown parser as a “stand alone” project for others to use or seal it away in dash buddy mate?

Although Flowdown - the name for the Markdown to flow document conversion utility which I’m writing - will be primarily written to work with DashBuddy, the idea has always been that the source code for it will be published to either CodePlex or GitHub or BitBucket (I genuinely haven’t decided yet) as soon as it’s in an alpha state.

What is an alpha state? Well the basic architecture is in - I can create Markdown and HTML documents based on my object model - but I want a basic parser with all the core functionality being converted into thatobject model before I release anything. At that stage if anyone wants to help by grabbing the code, they’ll be welcome to it.

The gap between alpha and beta is then the number of tests and example documents that need to be validated against the code and the bug fixes that are required in order to get it to that stage. This will get the project ready for inclusion into DashBuddy, at which point I can test the results against those of Tumblr to ensure the most accurate rendition with the DashBuddy dashboard.

Assuming the project gets to that stage with relative speed - I hope to be able to place the option for using the Markdown text markup within DashBuddy posts within a month, giving users the ability to create really rich posts within the standard WP7 textboxes.

Hope this answers your question.
