DashBuddy

Bringing Your Dash to WP7

1 note

Anonymous asked: Any progress with DashBuddy?

The short answer? Yes!

The heart symbol has been reinstated now the V2 API has been given the information I required to use it, there are a number of bugs that have been fixed and I’ve further improved the pinning of blogs to your phone home page.

The big issue, pictures, is still ongoing - with Tumblr having no resource to give API development, and with the picture uploading in the V2 api using a non-standard mechanism, I don’t believe I can wait for it as I hoped.

To this end - I am currently in the process of moving the old photo upload mechanism from previous DashBuddy versions into the new code I’ve written for the next version. You’ll be able to view photosets in the dashboard and in people’s blogs - but photo upload will be restricted to a single photo until this is resolved.

I thank users of my app for their patience on this, I really believed getting this resolved was the best way forward - but it’s gone on too long already.

I’m expecting photo uploading to be back in place this weekend, and then hopefully a 1/2 week test/bug-fix cycle should mean that the new version of DashBuddy is available by new year!

I’ll write a larger, more complete post about the new functionality in before then so that I hope everyone can see that there has been some serious work put into it, while still keeping it in the WP7 style of previous versions.

I’ll keep you posted!
